I am an Academy Fellow at the University of Helsinki. I work mainly in epistemology, but my philosophical interests are broad, encompassing meta-ethics, philosophy of mind, philosophy of action, metaphysics and metametaphysics. In September 2024 I started as a PI in a four-year research project, “Metaphysics, Ethics, and Epistemology of Risk”, funded by the Research Council of Finland. I’m also the PI of the project “The Structure and Nature of Risk”, funded by the Kone Foundation.
Before these projects I worked as postdoc for two years in the Academy of Finland funded research project ‘Responsible Beliefs: Why Ethics and Epistemology Need Each Other’ lead by Antti Kauppinen and for three years in the ERC-project Competence and Success in Epistemology and Beyond lead by Maria Lasonen-Aarnio.
Currently I’m working moral and epistemic justification, the metaphysics of risk, luck and modality, and on the interconnections between epistemology and ethics.
When I am not doing philosophy I enjoy spending time in the nature by fishing, hiking and picking mushrooms. I also brew beer on an irregular basis and play board games.
